Turkish Ambassador H.E S. Babur Girgin called on Minister for IT& Telecom Mrs. Anusha Rahman here in Islamabad today, and discussed various issues of mutual interest. Federal secretary IT Mr. Azmat Ali Ranjha was also present in the meeting.
The Minister, while welcoming the Turkish Ambassador, stated that present government attached the utmost importance to its cordial ties with Turkey and was determined to take these relations to even higher level by expanding mutual cooperation in all fields including IT& Telecom.
Minister also apprised the Ambassador regarding ongoing key projects which are being carried out by the Ministry and its attached departments.
Anusha Rahman informed the Turkish Ambassador that after successful auction of 3G/4G, we have witnessed a phenomenon increase in the numbers of subscribers and now we intend to hold a next round of Spectrum auction in near future as market forces have already expressed their appetite for more spectrum. It’s our ardent desire that Turk-Cellular companies should also participate in the next bidding. Moreover we have a special lot of 850 MHz spectrum, which we have kept for new entrant. So it would be a golden opportunity for new entrants.
The Turkish Ambassador while appreciating the efforts of Pakistan government, assured cooperation on enhancing bilateral engagement on IT and Telecom sector.
