US Consul General in Lahore Zachary Harkenrider has said that the United States (US) is proud to be a partner in Pakistan’s continuing economic growth and MIT Technology Review’s arrival in Pakistan reflects close and productive relationship
Addressing the launch of the MIT Technology Review’s Pakistan edition at the Information Technology University (ITU) here on Saturday, he said Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is regarded as one of the best universities on the planet.
The diplomat said MIT’s Technology Review, consequently, is one of the premier technology journals in the world, providing peer-reviewed research on the applied sciences including climate change; biotechnology; information and communications technology; and, other vital subjects to readers across the globe.
Zachary lauded the achievements of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) of the Punjab government and the ITU under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Umar Saif, an MIT PhD. He said being the Chairman of PITB and Vice Chancellor of the ITU, Dr Saif has great achievements in the Information and Communications Technology sector, adding that Dr. Saif’s efforts square directly with Pakistan’s ‘Vision 2025′.
The ceremony was attended by the Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal, Chairman Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, teachers, and students.
