“The government will get US$ 800 million after the award of licence to telecom operators,” Dr Firdous Awan .
She said the Cabinet was also informed that last year remittances were US$ 11.7 billion, while during the first six months of the current financial years, Pakistan has received US$ 6.3 billion remittances.
“Our exports during the current financial year are US$ 11.7 billion in the first six months. While last year they stood at US$ 26 billion.”Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the cabinet in principle approved presenting the Land Surveying and Mapping Bill – 2010 in the Parliament with the objectives of streamlining, regulating and implementing the surveying and mapping standards in the country.
Elaborating, she said that the bill would help obviating potential security risk to sensitive information, preventing damage to affixed ‘Survey Markers’, avoiding duplication of efforts in mapping and transforming Survey of Pakistan into a national mapping agency.
Secretary Finance informed the Cabinet that Pakistan has launched 3-G Policy and bidding has been called for auctioning of licence and thereby will get US $ 800m after the award of 3-G licence to telecom operators.
