A notice has been sent to a private mobile service provider in Azad Jammu and Kashmir by the Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Company Circle for tax recovery of Rs 2.85 billion. According to the report, Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue (Company Circle) Syed Ansar Ali, after an audit, imposed income tax and education cess of Rs. The relevant forum (Commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals) rejected the company’s position on the ground that it was against the law and facts and upheld the tax order imposed by the Deputy Commissioner. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (IR) Syed Ansar Ali has sent a notice of tax recovery to the concerned company. The taxpayer company had earlier in 2017 challenged the jurisdiction of the Azad Kashmir Department of Inland Revenue to audit the company in the High Court to avoid an audit, in which the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court directed the Inland Department He termed the position of Revenue as correct and asked the company to provide records to the Inland Revenue Department for audit and said that the jurisdiction of Inland Revenue Department was not only in Azad Jammu and Kashmir but also in all mobile service providers.
