Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has called upon the government to focus on further improving the existing infrastructure, training, coaching and other facilities in the country for squash game in line with international standards so that our players could be prepared for international mega squash events. He said that Pakistan has produced top class squash players like Jahangir Khan and Jan Sher Khan, who are world record holders, which showed that Pakistan has tremendous talent to excel in this game. He emphasized that the government should encourage squash players in every possible way so that they could win more awards for Pakistan. He was speaking as Chief Guest at a Squash Championship organized by the Islamabad Founder Lions Club and Rawalpindi Division Squash Association at PAF Mujahid Anwar Squash Academy at the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day. Under-11, Under-15, Under-19 and Senior players participated in the Championship.
Air Commodore (Retd) Aftab Sadiq Qureshi Director Pakistan Squash Academies was the Guest of Honor. Engineer Azharul Salam Zafar, Muhammad Naveed Malik Vice President Rawalpindi Division Squash Association, Secretary Naeem Anwar, Ms. Hira Riaz, Muhammad Kashif and others also present at the occasion.
Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan congratulated the Islamabad Founder Lions Club and Rawalpindi Division Squash Association for organizing a squash championship to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day and said that organizing such tournaments was not only an effective way to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brethren and sisters, these events also provided potential players a good chance to show their talent in sport and be recognized. He assured that ICCI would extend all possible cooperation for the promotion of various sports including squash.
Director Pakistan Squash Academies Air Commodore (Retd) Aftab Sadiq Qureshi, Engineer Azharul Salam, Rawalpindi Division Squash Association Vice President Muhammad Naveed Malik, Secretary Naeem Anwar, Ms. Hira Riaz, Muhammad Kashif and others also expressed their views on the occasion and gave various useful proposals to the government for promotion of squash in the country.
