Ufone recently concluded the first cycle of its formalized Summer Internship Program (SIP). The program was aimed at training over 150 fresh graduates from Pakistan’s top 35 universities in different fields, and intended to introduce them to emerging technology trends, while developing their career scope in the thriving telecom sector.
A ceremony was hosted in a local hotel to acknowledge the hard work put in by the internees. The event was attended by Abdul Aziz President & CEO of Ufone, along with the Ufone management team, Rector Comsats University Dr. S.M Junaid Zaidi and other University representatives. The students celebrated the evening as one of the first acheivements of their careers.
In the ceremony, high value interns were honored by Ufone top management with praise. Each individual was selected on a criterion of service delivery, quality of output, recommendation from supervisors, and their general professional attitude. They were given certificates and giveaways such as mobile handsets & ipods.
Abdul Aziz, President & CEO Ufone said, “ We hope to bridge the gap between students and the job market by providing opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. Our interns contributed tremendously to the real-world projects they were assigned, and displayed great corporate values with fervor towards their daily tasks, thus further strengthening the Ufone Way. Their input was unparalleled. Ufone looks forward to actively pursue its partnership with academic institutions.”
Noor al Ain, intern and graduate from Bahria University said, “This was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had, and the associations I have made here shall last a lifetime. I learned a lot from my internship, and it was being a part of the Ufone family that stands out as one of my favourite memories.”
The ceremony was a great platform for the interns to mingle with Ufone’s management team, and vice versa. This was the first event hosted in the North region, and such events will soon be hosted in Central and Southern regions in order to share the same experience with interns that worked with Ufone all over Pakistan
