A high level meeting on Planning and Development was held at Railway Headquarters Office Lahore under the chairmanship of Secretary / Chairman Railways Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani. The members of the meeting reviewed in detail various projects including infrastructure, PSDP, business and briefed the Chairman Railways about various projects. The meeting also discussed about the railway lands on which Chairman Railways Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani directed the Chief Project and Planning Officer to inquire about the pending projects regarding the lands, and issue show cause notices to the concerned officials. Apart from this, the issue of flats being constructed for railway employees in Lahore, Karachi and Narowal was also under consideration. The issue of maintenance and upgradation of 136 km track on Jacobabad, Celera Shahdadkot and Larkana sections was also reviewed. While briefing was taken from the concerned project director regarding rehabilitation and upgradation of Shorkot, Chak Jhumra, Sangla Hill, Wazirabad section as well as Shahdara, Chak Jhumra, Shaheenabad, Sargodha, Malikwal and Lala Musa sections. In addition, better security of various major stations and purchase of various equipment for security and to prevent terrorism were also discussed. The issue of procurement of Diesel Electric Locomotives was also discussed and a briefing was also given to Chairman Railways Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani on procurement of 820 high capacity bogies, freight wagons and 230 passenger coaches. The Chairman Railways constituted a committee headed by Chief Executive Officer Nisar Ahmad Memon for this purpose and directed to complete the project this year. Nisar Ahmad Memon, Additional Secretary Arif Anwar Baloch, Advisor Farooq Haider, Additional General Manager Infrastructure Asif Matin Zaidi, Additional General Manager Traffic Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Additional General Manager Mechanical Salman Sadiq, DG Planning Amir Ali Baloch and Director Public Relations Nazia Jabeen and others senior officials attended the meeting.
