The 13th Convocation of the Bahria University Islamabad was held at Jinnah Convention Centre Islamabad to commemorate the academic accomplishments of its students. Students were also honoured with Gold and Silver medals for their outstanding achievements in their academic career at the convocation.
Pro- Chancellor of Bahria University, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah graced the occasion as chief guest and conferred degrees upon the graduating students of Masters and Undergraduate programmes. In total 560 students were awarded degrees.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah awarded 21 Gold medals and 14 Silver medals to various students, who achieved top positions in their respective departments. Gold medals and Silver medals were awarded to the students from each discipline to acknowledge their outstanding performance. Ashi Iram ,Shaharyar Maroof, Department of Software Engineering, Muhammad Noman Farooq Department of Computer Sciences, Muhammad Bilal Razzaq , Hira Qamar, Madiha Rafiq, Mohammad Ehsan Saeed, Azka Nawaz, Nudrat Amin, Department of Management Sciences, Aqsa Aamir, Naila Aslam Department of Social Sciences, Saima Ishaq, Kanza Tauqir Gondal Department of Electrical Engineering, Waqar Mirza Department of Computer Engineering, Irum, Ambreen Nawaz, Ahmer Iqbal Bhatti, Muhammad Saqib Khan, Beenish Aslam, Jawad Farooq, Kisa Fatima Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, received the gold medals in their respective Engineering Disciplines.
While congratulating the students who won the gold and silver medals for their outstanding academic performance and extending felicitations to all the degree recipients, the Naval chief said that the global geo-political and geo-economic environment has become highly complex and challenging, due to which increasingly fierce and complex issues are confronting the world. “Under these circumstances the role of youth for all nations in general and developing nations, like us, in particular has become extremely critical. Therefore, a number of challenges are waiting for you in the coming days. Through your sheer hard work, honesty and dedication towards your profession you have to prove yourselves compatible with your counterparts in the developed world and become integral part of national growth and prosperity,” he added.
Admiral Zakaullah assured the students that by keeping unshakeable faith in Almighty Allah, righteousness integrity and good intent should be your guiding principles, no hurdle will be big enough to be able to stop you from achieving great heights. Underlining the role of universities and institutions which has gained significant importance in imparting the requisite education and fostering professional competence in the students to make them better and productive citizens, the Naval Chief appreciated Bahria University’s contribution and remarkable initiatives and said that the University is not only producing quite a good number of graduates in varying academic disciplines but it is also on the forefront in conceiving and implementing initiatives and programmes with special focus on capacity building of the students. He assured his fullest/continued cooperation and support to the management for development of Bahria University vis a vis to make the University one of the best universities of the country.
Earlier in his welcome address, Bahria University Rector Vice Admiral (r) Tanveer Faiz congratulated the students and their parents, and wished them a prosperous future. He said that their positive attitude and efficiency at the work place would reflect on them and their alma-mater to get the best reward. “Never forget to apply the small virtues and morals you have learnt in life. Maintain your confidence and remain abreast with the latest developments taking place in your profession. I am confident that you possess all the ingredients to meet the challenges of practical life. Do not hesitate to look back to Bahria University for any support and guidance, you will always find us forthcoming and supportive,” he added.
He said that higher education has now become a tool of economic growth. The universities have great responsibility of producing quality graduates who could contribute positively in various fields for economic growth of the country. Our vision is to prepare our students for the national as well as international market, through high standards of education.
